Fighting Osteoporosis: Our £1M Commitment to the Royal Osteoporosis Society
Osteoporosis is a silent epidemic. In the UK alone, over 3.5 million people are affected by the condition, which weakens bones and makes them susceptible to fractures. Every year, there are approximately 500,000 fragility fractures across the country — a staggering number that places enormous strain on the healthcare system and, more importantly, on the lives of those affected.
The Royal Osteoporosis Society is the UK's national charity dedicated to tackling this condition head-on. They fund cutting-edge research, run patient support services, and train healthcare professionals to better diagnose and treat bone disease.
Dale Giving is proud to commit £1 million over 12 months to the Royal Osteoporosis Society — one of the largest single pledges in the charity's history.
This funding will support:
- Research into the causes, prevention, and treatment of osteoporosis and fragility fractures.
- Patient support lines providing expert guidance and information to those living with the condition.
- Clinical training programmes equipping healthcare professionals with the latest knowledge and best practices.
Bone health is fundamental to quality of life, yet it remains one of the most underfunded areas of medical research. Our commitment reflects a belief that this must change — and that philanthropy can play a decisive role in accelerating progress.
